The following is a transcript of a recent conversation between the air control tower of a local Minnesota airport and an approaching aircraft. Unfortunately, due to an unknown technical glitch, only the tower’s side was recorded. The pilot’s unheard responses are indicated by a line of *s. (Note:  For this exercise  > and <  are pronounced  “psst”)

>This is KMIC the tower at Crystal Airport. We copy you in our airspace. Please identify yourself<

    ***********

> Roger, Mooney Bravo Romeo Kilo Five One, please verify your current heading<

   ***********

>Copy that. Would you indicate your rate of descent for us.<

   ************

>Thank you, Mooney Romeo Bravo Kilo Five One, what is your new altitude?<

   ************

>Copy that. Please verify your airspeed<

>Roger, Mooney Bravo Romeo Kilo Five One. Please verify that your radio is set to this localizer’s frequency and follow the ILS glide path in. You are clear to land. Welcome to Crystal Airport.<
